S. army is the one who eventually takes over their government power and causes the war. The lions and the bear both represent the civilians and Saddam Hussein. Towards almost the end of the story, referring to a specific page, a bear who shows up trying to block the lions’ way to freedom says â€Å"Don’t get up†(where the page’s background is the huge bear standing up with Noor and Safa looking up). The authors purposely creates a giant black bear when the story almost reaches the end to show the power that Hussein holds during the his presidency. By looking at the expression on the bear’s face, readers can clearly see the anger through its bloody eyes and sharp teeth with opening mouth. The shrewdest part of this graphic novel is its drawing style, using animals to portray humans. Throughout the idea of visual images, when readers first look at the bear, a sense of fear is emitted from its giant black body; however, the lions, comparing the size with the bear, are much weaker. The authors apply not only the visualized details, but also the literal ones in every single character. For instance, the names of the bear and the lions who is prisoned, Fajer and Rashid are both originated from Arabic language, which is also the official language in Iraq. Fajer means wicked and Rashid means rightly guided, which are opposite to each other; however, the justice can’t beat down the evil since Fajer already kills Rashid. According to the previous page, the authors purposely use special-effects lettering, a method of drawing attention to text of highlighting the words, on some of the words while the bear is speaking, â€Å"PET†, â€Å"HIS†, â€Å"FAJER†, and â€Å"MAN†(the page where the bear first shows up with only its eyes and mouth). Both relate to a much-discussed topic: giving and taking offense. I found the word offendotron in an article by Martin Daubney. I couldn’t find it in either the OED or Merriam-Webster, but the Urban Dictionary defines it: offendotron: Person offended by anything, however innocuous. Like offendotron, microaggression has yet to make it into my big dictionaries, but unlike the O word, microaggression already enjoys wide use. According to an article on the blog Ricochet, the Student Government Association at Ithaca University in upstate New York, â€Å"concerned about the problem of microaggression,† is considering the creation of a tracking system â€Å"that students can use to anonymously report incidents of perceived bias on campus.† The word was coined by Harvard professor Chester Pierce in 1970 as a term for â€Å"the insults and dismissals† inflicted on black Americans by non-black Americans. A Comparison of Vacations Summer and vacations are synonymous, especially with my family. Does Chevy Chase and summer vacation ring a bell? With a family of six, anything is possible. There are two types of excursions that we take every year. I refer to one as my family vacation and the other as my family trip. My family vacation to the beach is an annual event, but my family trip destination is always different. This past summer my family and I went to Wyoming. Both experiences were the highlights of my summer but for very different reasons. We begin packing for our beach trip shortly after my grandmother arrives from North Carolina. My dad's twenty-five-year-old surfboard is securely tied on top, and we are stuffed like sardines into the car with the week's groceries packed in every nook and cranny. My dad always insists that we take everything with us; it would be a sin to spend good beach time at the grocery store. The trip down is uneventful, and we make our traditional one and only stop at the Subway for lunch and gas. After an early start we arrive to find our three-bedroom, three-bath condo just as we remember it. We especially enjoy having a VCR in each bedroom, After unpacking the car, my family and I head for the beach. The familiar smell of the salty air, the rhythm of the ocean waves, and the gentle breeze across my face are like long-lost friends. The beach routine begins. Just as we do on the day we leave for the beach, my family and I wake up early to prepare to leave for Wyoming. My dad says that getting my family of six ready to go is like launching the space shuttle. For this trip, luggage is limited to what we can each carry. We all convince my dad that there will be grocery stores in Wyoming. After a quick trip to the airport, we board a jet to Atlanta and take a connecting flight to Denver. The highlight of our plane trip is the long-awaited lunch, which is a real disappointment. My mom and dad nap, while my sisters and I watch a movie.

The book had unreality to It because It Is set In what I believe to be a futuristic post-apocalyptic time. It talks about how society got hit by solar flares and are Infected by this disease by the scorch which makes you Into a crazed lunatic who has lost all sense of humanity and wishes to be dead so that pain would stop yet some driving forces makes it attack and kill any living it can possible get a hold of. Also there is a group called the Gladder which is a group of guys and one girl namedTheresa Agnes who can telepathically communicate to one of the boys named Thomas. They also have to fight these one creatures that have these bulb things all over their bodies and have blades for hands which is completely unreal and they Just gruesomely attack the Gladder Just slaughtering some of them. Finally one thing that is totally unrealistic is when they are traveling through this tunnel they come upon these metal spheres. That are extremely hot and they will drop on your head encasing I tself around your head melting away your entire head in Just minutes, butIf you somehow manage to get the meal sphere off your head your head Is badly burned to where It Is barely recognizable. â€Å"Real-World† This book has many real-world ideas integrated into it. For instance this whole â€Å"trial† is overseen by this group called â€Å"WICKED†. It is basically the post-apocalyptic government which consists of all the remaining governments unite into a single totalitarianism one could say where they control absolutely every aspect of the remaining society and especially over the Gladder.This government is much more technologically advanced than ours by far. The city in the book makes me think back to barbaric times and how each â€Å"city† has a Ajar or â€Å"ruler†. Because the city well the section of the city Is controlled by a Hispanic name Jorge. He is at the top of the hierarchy he Is the king, the strongest among that section of â€Å" half-crazies† (not fully taken by the scorch still half human). Jorge commands the half cranes keeping them safe and Glenn the Jobs to do Just basically keeping them organized In a chills manor.WICKED has an army of soldiers that help out the Gladder (well Thomas) from time to time interfering just to the trial afloat by giving Thomas aid when he almost dies and he bring him to Wicker's doctors to fix up Thomas then they placed him back into the city and left again. The second time they help the Gladder is when they fight the bulb creatures near the end when they finish that part of the trial they take them away from the creatures before the creatures could kill off the rest of the Gladder.The final and most important is that in harsh and trouble times people will unite to survive against the terrible odds. People have an Ingrained desire to survive Its instinct really It may be deeply buried In us but somewhere It lays in us all. In the book these boys don't know each other b ut they unite to survive. Approach is using either inductive reasoning or deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning is using results of observations and experiments with more general hypotheses and theories. Deductive reasoning is using the exact results of previous experiments. Deductive reasoning is used back in the mid 1800's when Louis Pasteur was offered a prize if he could solve the theory if abiogenesis was possible. Abiogenesis is the belief that living things can come from non-living things. Biogenesis is the belief that living things are given birth from other living things. He used previous experiments such as Francis Redi, John Needham, Abbi' Spallonzani, and many others to devise a strategy. He made swan neck flasks with large enough holes in them to let air in but no microorganisms. He boiled mutton broth and put it in the jars and the broth lasted over a year without spoiling. This proved that abiogenesis was wrong. The organisms and flies in previous experiments succeeded in attacking the broth but since the swan neck jars kept them out this proves that nothing can grow from a non living object. The cell theory is a set of rules that are true of all living things. A cell can only be created by another cell. All living things have at least one sell.
